Best home in the best position

You can watch the freestyle on the half pipe, see the slalom action, the glacier and the great runs such as Double M and Carline.

Gavin continues ...

Le Bollin was originally built as the year round home of Pierre Schnebelen, the famous owner of Tignes and developer of Val Thorens.

You can imagine that it is in the best home in the best position in the resort.

It dominates a large part of the top two floors of what some term an 'ugly classic' Tignes building. (However, we rather like the white and grey styling with irregular zinc roofs which match the mountains ... but not everyone does!)

The penthouse covers more than 2,000 square feet and provides plenty of space and privacy in its 5 bedrooms – three of which are en suite - and the spacious reception areas.

The master bedroom contains a good bath, plus stall shower, basin and toilet.

There is also a family bathroom and a downstairs toilet.

Fabulous light and views

The light and views from the apartment are fabulous and you are able to watch friends and family skiing.

From the windows, you can see the freestyle on the half pipe, and the slalom action, and the glacier and the great runs such as the Double M and Carline.

The penthouse is located right opposite the Funicular going up to the glacier on Grande Motte and by the Bollin/Fresse lift.

The Tichot and Lanches lifts are also very close. From the two heated balconies you can enjoy a comfortable view of some really great skiing.

The major fit-out was carried out to a very high standard with work from several of France's, Italy's and Denmark's top designers.

A fridge for the wine

The spacious kitchen is by Bulthaup with some special appliances including a built-in Miele coffee maker and a Miele wine fridge and a steam oven, and of course all the usual stuff like hob, another oven, microwave, dishwasher and washer/drier.

You can enjoy the solid ash breakfast bar or sit at the Tablemaker's handmade oak table on Wegner wishbone chairs.

I wanted everything at 38 Bollin to be exactly as I visualised it and so I asked Catherine Monnet of Grenoble Renovation to manage the transformation. Cutlery is handmade by David Mellor.
